Gaussian quantum metrology and space-time probes

This is the math that sets the ceiling for quantum sensors — gravimeters, magnetometers, clocks — before anyone builds hardware; precision estimation is the frontier of the quantum-sensing race.

He derived new formulas for the optimal precision of estimating multiple parameters encoded in Gaussian quantum states, found the figure of merit (quantum Fisher information) can behave discontinuously, and showed that using a quantum reference frame counters the precision loss when two parties exchanging a state don't share a reference frame.

Why it matters

This is the math that sets the ceiling for quantum sensors — gravimeters, magnetometers, clocks — before anyone builds hardware; precision estimation is the frontier of the quantum-sensing race.

Use when: Know the theoretical ceiling of your instrument before building it — the math of optimal probes comes first.
