The Housing Secure Initiative: Helping Families Overcome Housing Insecurity

It is a documented non-state, non-market intervention in the housing crisis — community-relationship capital as the mechanism, a small-sample practice-based counter-model to top-down housing policy.

A church can attempt to move families from housing insecurity to housing security through deep, long-term relational community investment: RockPointe Church's Housing Secure Initiative was a 36-month journey with six Calgary families, treating them with the dignity and compassion the author sees modeled by Jesus, with the aim of transformation of people, families, communities, and nations.

Why it matters

It is a documented non-state, non-market intervention in the housing crisis — community-relationship capital as the mechanism, a small-sample practice-based counter-model to top-down housing policy.

Use when: Housing insecurity is also a community deficit — long, committed relational support can attempt what neither the market nor the state delivers on its own.
