Virtual military markets

It reframes intelligence production as a market-design problem — price signals and competition instead of more bureaucracy — an idea now living in prediction markets and AI-era information operations.

The Pentagon should run an internal "eBay-style" market for command, control, communications and collaboration — intel and operational tasks posted, bid on, and priced by cost and performance — to fix the shortfalls in C4 systems flagged by the Defense Science Board, the Office of Force Transformation, and the Command and Control Research Program; the thesis builds a testable model and walks through an intelligence use case with testable hypotheses.

Why it matters

It reframes intelligence production as a market-design problem — price signals and competition instead of more bureaucracy — an idea now living in prediction markets and AI-era information operations.

Use when: Markets are coordination machines — put bidding and pricing on any system where information gets hoarded, and hoarding gets priced out.
