The enforcers who build a career on purging others by group category will eventually fall under the same broad rules and get purged by their own machine.

— In our words · Source: A Tale of Two Cities (Charles Dickens)

[Use when]

A coworker invents a vague conduct rule to get rivals fired. Document their own daily habits and wait for the rule to turn on them.

[Why it matters]

Fanatics think they will hold the handle of the axe forever. A machine built to eat whole categories never runs out of targets. The purity police end up in the cart themselves.
