Habit is not character — it is the subconscious executing old tracks. "You are a creature of habit. Habit is the function of your subconscious mind." To rewrite one, stop fighting it with will (see the law of reversed effort) and re-expose the plate: "Your conscious mind is the camera, and your subconscious mind is the sensitive plate on which you register or impress the picture." Rehearse the end-scene nightly — the alcoholic father hearing his daughter say "Daddy, it's wonderful to have you home" — until the new track outcompetes the old. "Your imagination took you to the bottle; let it take you now to freedom and peace of mind." Entry condition: "If you have a keen desire to free yourself from any destructive habit, you are fifty-one percent healed already" — the new desire must outweigh the old before anything else can work.
