Stop treating them like children and they'll stop behaving like children. Who the hell are you to play monitor?

[Use when]

You need the anti-paternalist argument: that gatekeeping knowledge to protect people is what keeps them dangerous, and the only real fix is to distribute the power and let everyone face the consequence.

[Why it matters]

Foyle's final political act is to scatter Pyr E across the world and end the last secret conference, refusing to let any elite monopolize the weapon. His argument is brutal and democratic: secrecy infantilizes people, and the only cure for a dangerous species is to hand it the loaded gun and let it grow up or die. "I've handed life and death back to the people who do the living and dying." Bester's answer to the control question is the opposite of control: radical, terrifying transparency.
