Any group positioned as the necessary intermediary to a truth can convert access into a gate, and the tell is that they block as much as they teach. 'The Pharisees and the scholars have taken the keys of knowledge and have hidden them. They have not entered nor have they allowed those who want to enter to do so.' The remedy is to bypass them and go direct.

[Use when]

Use when evaluating whether an institution, expert, or platform is transmitting understanding or merely gatekeeping it. Use when someone is told they need a credential or mediator to reach a truth available to them directly. Use when designing access to knowledge — ask: are we opening doors or guarding keys?

[Why it matters]

It is a permanent test for anyone standing between people and understanding — teachers, clergy, experts, platforms, tool-makers. The metric is not whether they possess the knowledge but whether they transmit it and let others in. If the key is gnosis (self-knowledge), no credential is required to hold it, and a gatekeeper who neither enters nor admits is worse than useless.
