Prajapati's creation protocol has four steps: desire ("may I create offspring") → vision (he saw the ten-hotṛ formula) → mental offering (he offered it in his mind into a tuft of darbha grass) → only then did creatures get created. Thought is the first altar; the physical rite just repeats what the mind already did. Then the created things run away from him — creation always escapes its maker — and he seizes them with "the seizer" (graha): "that is the graha-ness of the graha." Names are born from the act of grabbing. (TB 2.2.1)

[Use when]

Use when starting anything — run the four steps in order before touching tools.

[Why it matters]

A complete theory of making: everything real starts as desire, gets seen clearly, gets rehearsed mentally, then gets built — and the builder must then go catch what he made.
