When a claim to supremacy is phrased as a defensive assertion of uniqueness, the defensiveness is itself evidence against the claim. The creator god declares 'I am a jealous God, and there is no other God beside me' — and the text pounces: jealousy needs an object, so the very act of insisting there is no rival proves the rival it denies. Read boasts for what they are compensating for.

[Use when]

Use when an argument rests on an assertion of unique or exclusive authority. Use when you want to reframe a defensive leader or institution as confessing its rivals. Use when explaining why a flawed world does not have to indict a perfect origin.

[Why it matters]

It is a reusable refutation that converts an opponent's strongest-sounding assertion into their weakest. Any identity or institution that constantly protests it is the 'one and only' is, by that very protest, confessing the existence and threat of alternatives. It also reframes the problem of evil: a flawed world made by a flawed, envious maker no longer indicts a perfect source.
