Prajapati creates the horse-sacrifice — and it immediately flees him. He has to hunt it down "with the eighteens" and recapture it before the rite can happen. Then the eighteen are decoded: "this is the image of the year — twelve months, five seasons." The rite is wild game; the calendar is the net. Even the gods' own ritual won't stay put — order has to be re-caught every year, or it goes feral. (TB 3.9.1)

[Use when]

Use when a process keeps drifting; stop blaming people and rebuild the yearly net.

[Why it matters]

Every system you build will try to run away from you. Maintenance isn't failure — it's the hunt, and the calendar is the only net that works.
